Last-Minute Salah Magic Gives Egypt Winning Start at AFCON
Mohamed Salah decided Egypt’s AFCON opener needed a bit of drama — so he scored a last-minute winner to beat Zimbabwe 2-1.
The Liverpool star was wearing the captain’s armband and leading the team in Agadir on Monday night, because of course he was.
Things didn’t start well for Egypt. Zimbabwe’s Prince Dube scored first in the first half and shocked everyone (especially Egyptian fans).
Then Omar Marmoush said, “Relax, I got this,” and smashed in an equalizer in the 64th minute.
Just when the match looked like it might end in stress and panic, Salah showed up. He calmly controlled the ball in the box and fired a low shot into the net at the very end of the game — cue celebrations, happy fans, and probably some heart attacks avoided.
Next up, Salah and Egypt face South Africa on Friday, December 26. Popcorn recommended 🍿
