ZAMBIAN poet, Musenga Katongo, has raised the country’s flag higher after winning his second international poetry slam (competition) held in Scotland.

The Colour Culture Arts founder won the Leith vs the World Slam held in Edinburgh, Scotland, after beating six other contestants through an impressively crafted poem titled “Same Walk, New Adventure”.

In 2019, Katongo, a spoken word artiste and entrepreneur, took part in his first international slam dubbed, the Intwasa Poetry Slam, which was part of the Intwasa Arts Festival held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where he emerged victorious.

The University of Zambia graduate was sent to Scotland by Barefeet Theatre alongside fellow Zambian artist, Stanslous Kundelungu, as part of a 3 month youth programme fully funded through the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the Field of Youth Programme.
